Cheetham Hill Construction Ltd, a long‑established civil engineering and plant hire business based in Bury, is preparing to celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2026. Founded in 1966, the company has grown into a trusted regional contractor, delivering major infrastructure, earthworks and utilities projects across the Northwest and Yorkshire. Its nationwide plant hire division now operates more than 100 Volvo and Caterpillar machines, supporting projects of all sizes.
Continued success has enabled the business to expand its workforce, creating new roles for Site Managers, Engineers and Plant Operatives. The company also remains committed to developing future talent, offering apprenticeships and trainee pathways in partnership with Hopwood Hall College. Recent project highlights include work under the United Utilities Framework, schemes for the Environment Agency, projects with the National Trust at Formby and contracts for British Aerospace.
Cheetham Hill Construction’s transition to an Employee Ownership Trust has strengthened long‑term stability and boosted employee engagement. Investment in skills and sustainable working practices continues, supported by local supply chain partnerships and ongoing upgrades to plant equipment to reduce emissions. The team has also welcomed a new Environmental Practitioner to further enhance its environmental performance.
