Bury Adult Learning

Traineeships are designed to prepare young people aged 16 to 25 for life in employment, and your business could help by offering a high quality work placement. Trainees attend for 12 weeks, with three days a week on their work placement and the other two days on classroom-based training.

Benefits to your business include shaping a trainee's experience before taking them on, creating a pipeline of experienced young people for your business and introducing enthusiastic young people into your workforce to revitalise your business.

To take part, you need to commit to offering a work placement that guarantees your trainee an exit interview, alongside a reference for future job applications. If the trainee is successful, you may wish to offer them a job interview or an apprenticeship.

Funding is available through the Greater Manchester AGE grant for employers who convert a traineeship position into an apprenticeship.

Bury Adult Learning offers a range of pre-employment provision, planned to meet the needs of unemployed or low skilled people to help them develop skills relevant to the workplace. Over the past few years, hundreds of local people have attended our provision and many have successfully gained employment. If you have filled vacancies with candidates from the unemployment register, they are likely to have attended our courses.
